How to Use a Gmail Temp Inbox: A Step-by-Step Guide
Get started with Gmail Temp: generate an alias, copy your address, refresh messages, and understand access and expiry.
TempMail Team
Gmail Temp gives you a short-lived alias of a connected Gmail account and a separate view of messages received for that address. It is useful for permitted, non-sensitive tasks and testing. It does not create a new Google account or give you a permanent personal Gmail mailbox.
1. Open the Gmail Temp page
Visit the Gmail Temp inbox. Generate an address using the available controls and wait for the operation to finish. If generation is unavailable, follow the message displayed on the page rather than repeatedly clicking the button. Availability depends on the service's connected accounts and configured limits.
2. Copy the complete address
Use Copy instead of typing the address by hand. Keep any dots and plus suffix exactly as displayed. Paste it into the destination form and confirm the entire address is present. Use this only where the receiving service permits temporary addresses.
3. Check remaining time
Look at the expiry indicator before requesting a message. Complete your short-term task while the alias is active. Do not assume the address will still work later for receipts, subscriptions, or account recovery. Choose a permanent mailbox for anything you need to keep.
4. Refresh and read messages
Request your email, then use Refresh and wait for the message list to update. Gmail Temp messages are imported from a connected Google mailbox, so delivery and import are separate steps. An empty inbox does not prove that the sender dispatched mail. If the page reports an error, resolve that error before requesting another code.
5. Keep your access token private
Inbox access uses a secret token saved by your browser. Do not share it, paste it into support messages, or expose it in screenshots. Another browser or device may not have the same access. Clearing browser storage can remove the local access information.
Before you change or delete an address
Finish reading messages you need for the task before choosing another address. If a website has already sent mail, changing your inbox does not update the address that website is using. Update the destination at the sender when necessary.
Know the privacy limits
The connected Gmail account owner and service administrators may have access to messages. Avoid sensitive personal information, payment details, private documents, and valuable account credentials. See our Privacy Policy for data handling.
For questions about access, read the Gmail Temp expiry and browser guide. If mail is missing, use the Gmail Temp delivery checklist or contact support. You can also review the FAQ.
